SOAP Support

WSDL-driven request building, SOAP mocks, and operation-aware workflows.

SOAP Support

Bifurc supports SOAP request authoring and SOAP-aware mocking for developers still integrating with WSDL-based services.

What you can do

  • save SOAP requests with endpoint, SOAPAction, headers, and XML body
  • fetch and store WSDL documents
  • browse WSDL operations
  • generate SOAP envelopes from discovered operations
  • mock SOAP requests by endpoint, SOAPAction, and operation name
  • apply environment variables inside endpoint URLs, headers, and envelopes

Typical workflow

  1. Open Requests and create a SOAP request
  2. Create a request tab
  3. Enter the endpoint URL
  4. Fetch or paste a WSDL
  5. Choose an operation from the WSDL explorer
  6. Review the generated envelope and SOAPAction
  7. Send the request and save it if needed

Mocking workflow

  1. Open Mocks and create a SOAP mock
  2. Create a SOAP mock
  3. Match by endpoint pattern
  4. Match by SOAPAction
  5. Optionally narrow to a SOAP operation name
  6. Return a prepared XML response body

Matching model

SOAP matching combines multiple hints:

  • endpoint URL
  • SOAPAction header
  • the first body operation inside the SOAP envelope

This makes SOAP mocks more precise than plain URL-only matching.

Good use cases

  • reproducing legacy partner integrations locally
  • testing frontend or middleware behavior around SOAP faults
  • maintaining WSDL-backed test fixtures in versioned workspaces
